John Mattone is a widely and highly regarded authority on identifying and developing outstanding business leaders. He has been recognized by the prestigious Thinkers50 as one of the world’s leading management “gurus” and by Leadership Excellence Magazine as one of the world’s top independent leadership consultants. A powerful keynote speaker and highly sought after executive coach, he has addressed more than 500,000 people in over 2,000 speeches and seminars in the U.S., Canada, and other countries; coached more than 200 executives; and consulted for more than 250 organizations, including members of the Fortune 500. He is the president of JohnMattonePartners, Inc. (JMP), a global leadership consulting firm specializing in executive assessment, development, and coaching.

A prolific author, Mattone has written over 100 articles and essays on leadership development and talent management. His books include Talent Leadership and three e-books, Powerful Performance Management, Powerful Executive Coaching, and Succession Planning and Management. In his new book, INTELLIGENT LEADERSHIP (AMACOM; March 28, 2013), Mattone provides a roadmap to help current and emerging leaders develop all the requirements of outstanding leadership: key strategic and tactical competencies, critical values, and maturity. “With real prescriptions for strengthening their inner and outer cores, leaders and future leaders can seize the considerable opportunities that await them,” Mattone assures. “At the same time, they can successfully mitigate the enormous risks associated with the unrelenting pace and complexity of change they face in their part of the business world.”

As a consultant and a corporate executive, Mattone has devoted over 30 years to executive development and human capital management. Prior to founding JMP, he was the Vice President of Global Assessment Services for Linkage, Inc. Before joining Linkage, he was the Vice President of Sales for Drake Beam Morin (DBM), the global career and outplacement firm. Before joining DBM, he spent 10 years building his first successful consulting firm, Human Resources International.

Mattone holds a Master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Central Florida and a Bachelor of Science in Management and Organizational Behavior from Babson College. He teaches a popular course, Global Leadership Assessment and Development, at Florida Atlantic University, where he is an executive MBA faculty member, and is an adjunct faculty member at the Owen School of Management at Vanderbilt University. Certified as a Master Corporate Executive Coach (MCEC) by the Association of Corporate Executive Coaches, he also serves as a Senior Talent Management Consultant and Master Executive Coach for Executive Development Associates; as a Senior Faculty Member with The Talent Management Academy, a worldwide leader in leadership conferences; and on the editorial advisory board of Recruiting Trends Magazine.

John Mattone makes his home in Longwood, Florida.
